2018 Refresher Course Day

Join us in Sydney on Sunday, May 6 for the 16th annual Faculty of Pain Medicine Refresher Course Day, which is being held a day prior to the start of the ANZCA Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM).

Scientific program

The theme “The dark side of the mind" will complement the ANZCA ASM pain program. We will be exploring what the rise in anxiety disorders means for the future of chronic pain; hearing from both the head of the Kings Cross injecting room and a forensic pathologist about risky prescribing; and be given a practical guide to preventing delirium with anaesthesia and analgesia. Plus much, much more. Click here to view the full program.

We look forward to welcoming two international speakers, Professor Oscar de Leon-Casasola, US (FPM ASM Visitor) and Professor Tor Wager, US (FPM New South Wales Visitor). We also have a talented group of local and national medical and non-medical experts to further enhance the breadth of the program.

Social program

The day will end with a dinner at Establishment Ballroom. This is a great opportunity to unwind and mingle with colleagues at this glamorous Sydney venue.

Sunday May 6, 7-10.30pm
Establishment Ballroom

Located in the centre of Sydney’s CBD on George Street, the Establishment Ballroom is a stunning, light-filled function space with an outdoor terrace. Established in Redfern, Sydney, in 2012, the Sydney Story Factory runs free creative writing and storytelling programs for marginalised young people. Under the guidance of an expert storytelling team, about 900 volunteers work with students one-on-one or in small groups to teach them writing
skills, cultivate their creativity and help them find their own voice.

Buses will be available, departing at 6.30pm sharp from International Convention Centre, Sydney. Return transport will depart around 10.30pm. Please indicate on your registration whether you will require transport.
