ICD-11 approved by WHO

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has approved the revision of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Problems (ICD-11).
ICD is the foundation for the identification of global health trends and statistics, and is used as the standard for reporting diseases and health conditions.

ICD-11 includes a new range of pain items that will result in pain being better coded in the classification of diseases. This allows improved coding in hospitals and institutions that use the ICD for reporting and funding programs.

ICD-11 will come into effect on January 1, 2022. Further information on ICD-11 is available on the ICD-11 website.
