NSW Health Awards: Dr Jennifer Stevens

Faculty of Pain Medicine fellow, Dr Jennifer Stevens was awarded Collaborative Leader of the Year at the NSW Health Awards.

Dr Jennifer Stevens was awarded Collaborative Leader of the Year to show recognition of the many projects she has led with multidisciplinary groups to improve patient care.

The projects led by Dr Jennifer Stevens include:
  • Insertion of fascia lliaca blocks in emergency departments for patients with fractured neck of femur by trained nursing staff thereby improving analgesia and minimising opiate use (and its problems) in an elderly population.
  • Working with pharmacy to reduce discharge scripts for opiates and targeting junior doctors, ward nurses and general practitioners in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Working with pharmacists on a Pharmalytics program to allow departments to track their drug use data and therefore manage their drug usage/budget. This hopefully will be available to all hospitals in the near future.
