Specialist registration and fellowship

Successful completion of the international medical graduate specialist (IMGS) assessment process will lead to recommendation for specialist registration and eligibility to apply for fellowship of FPMANZCA. FPMANZCA does not register medical practitioners. This is the role of the Medical Board of Australia.

International medical graduate specialists who have completed all requirements of the IMGS assessment process described in by-law 16 may apply for admission to fellowship. International medical graduate specialists admitted to fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists are entitled to place FFPMANZCA after their names.

A review of your IMGS assessment process will be undertaken once you have successfully completed all requirements. A report will be forwarded to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency/ Medical Board of Australia and the international medical graduate specialist, which will indicate FPMANZCA support for specialist registration.
